As a Spanish and International Health Studies student, health courses were a key part of my curriculum. Listed below are all of the health classes I completed during my college career.
Spring 2020
HLTH 2020: INTRODUCTION TO PUBLIC HEALTH
This course examines the forces that have influenced current health delivery systems, health practices, and trends. It introduces the population and public health theories and models, as well as general systems theory.
Fall 2020
HLTH 2980: HUMAN HEALTH AND DISEASE
This course serves as an overview of the behavioral, biological and psycho-social factors associated with major human diseases and conditions. It further places an emphasis on the best health practices.
Spring 2021
HLTH 2030 & HLTH 2400
HLTH 2030: Overview of Health Care Systems
This course serves as an introduction to the American health care delivery system, including its foundation, primary characteristics, resources and processes. The course discusses topics such as fee-for-service, managed care, and integrated care organizations, as well as access, cost and quality of care.
HLTH 2400: Determinants of Health Behavior ​
This course analyzes the health behaviors based on psychological, social, cultural, and environmental factors and introduces health behavior theories.
Fall 2021
HLTH 3800: EPIDEMIOLOGY
This course introduces epidemiological principles and methods used in the study of the origin, distribution, and control of disease.
Fall 2022
HLTH 4700: GLOBAL HEALTH
This course global health and how public health work is conducted internationally. The course introduces the assessment of international health needs and designing, implementing, managing, and evaluating public health programs in international settings.
Spring 2023
HLTH 3150, HLTH 4310, & HLTH 4900
HLTH 3150: Social Epidemiology
This course explores the current problems and issues associated with the health of population groups. The course further examines the interrelationships of biological, sociocultural, behavioral, environmental, political, and economic risk factors and the health and illness patterns of those in population groups.
HLTH 4310: Public and Environmental Health
This course discusses the principles of environmental health emphasizing understanding various health concerns created by the interactions of people with their environment. The impact of environmental factors on public health policy decisions is evaluated.
HLTH 4900: ​Research and Evaluation Strategies for Public Health
This course discusses research in health, particularly focusing on the analysis of reported research. Ethical, moral, and legal issues are also discussed.
